Hello, I have a problem with a rmvb video. The problem is that when playing the video and converted to mp4 (with a profile that I created and it works very well for other video formats) on my ipod or computer that is very slow, as if the image is stay for awhile, the sound is very good and also be synchronized.

I think the problem is the directshow decoder as it is with reproducing the video and slow reproducing, install Real Alternative on my computer and then the video plays fine.

Thanks for creating an excellent soft and sorry again, but my English is not very good.

Here are the link to download the full video:

part2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U3LDZD1M

Looks OK here, I've installed Real Alternative 202, when opening the file StaxRip asked if DirectShowSourcr of ffms2 should be used, I choose DirectShowSource and everything looked OK.

IIRC there is one or two issues with iPod, some x264 bug or something, you can find some info here:

Think you incorporated other avisynth filter in the future ?

They're some filter i have to use like convolution3d, animeivtc, tcomb and other... and staxrip don't have many restoration filter.
I add theme manualy but i'm not an expert...

I think that was great if you can add some filter with the same structure as avisynth wiki:

http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/External_filters

    * 1 Source Filters
    * 2 Restoration Filters
          o 2.1 Anti-aliasing
          o 2.2 Chroma correction
          o 2.3 Debanding
          o 2.4 Deblocking
          o 2.5 Dehaloing
          o 2.6 Deringing
          o 2.7 Deinterlacing
          o 2.8 Fieldblending and Frameblending removal
          o 2.9 Film Damage correction
          o 2.10 Frequency Interference removal
          o 2.11 IVTC & Decimation
          o 2.12 Ghost Removal
          o 2.13 Logo removal
          o 2.14 Luma Equalisation
          o 2.15 Rainbow & Dot Crawl removal
          o 2.16 Stabilization
    * 3 Denoisers
          o 3.1 Spatial Denoisers
          o 3.2 Temporal Denoisers
          o 3.3 Spatio-Temporal Denoisers
    * 4 Adjustment Filters
          o 4.1 Colourspace Conversion
          o 4.2 Duplicate Frame Detectors
          o 4.3 Effects
          o 4.4 Field Order
          o 4.5 Frame Rate Conversion
          o 4.6 Levels and Chroma
          o 4.7 Linedarkening
          o 4.8 Resizers
          o 4.9 Sharpeners
          o 4.10 Subtitling
          o 4.11 Transitions
    * 5 Other Filters
          o 5.1 Debugging/Diagnostic Filters
          o 5.2 Export Filters
          o 5.3 Import Filters
          o 5.4 Meta-Filters
          o 5.5 Multipurpose Filters
          o 5.6 Support filters
    * 6 Audio Filters
    * 7 As Yet Unclassified

Thanks for your works stax76, you have the best encoding gui :)

PAL speedup
« Reply #4 on: August 28, 2010, 03:26:32 PM »
I want to use staxrip as a simple one click solution to transcode some hd 24p material for my xvid capable dvd player in the bedroom. because my tv cannot handle ntsc color standard and my player cannot be forced to PAL only output (for some other reasons), I want to implement a PAL speedup in the encoding process.

My goal is MKV w. AVC/H.264 -> Xvid 2pass (Home Theatre) & MP3 ABR Audio @ 96kb with 1/5 DVD overall filesize

So far I managed to insert an AssumeFPS(25) command into the avisynth filter chain, but I fail to edit the audio encoder settings.
I'd like to add the "-r 23976 25000" parameter to the besweet command line, but staxrip does not allow it.

How can I implement a succesfull PAL speedup for both video and audio?

There are two audio dialogs, a new with simple controls and a old where you can use any command line:

more audio tracks
« Reply #7 on: August 28, 2010, 11:23:11 PM »
HI,

staxrip has two fields for selecting audio tracks. I'd like to keep 3 or more audio tracks (e.g. english AC3, german mp3, french mp3).
Is there any way to have more than 2 audio tracks? I couldn't figure it out...

Thx,
steff517

There are some profiles using the old dialog, all with name/path starting with Advanced. In the profiles dialog you can change those, you can clone them and then change or you can click the Add button to add a new profile based on the default profiles.

There are only 2 tracks supported, that is a limitation for some people I know, when this was coded 8 years ago people had smaller hard drives and bigger files, because of this keeping more tracks was less popular. To mux manually you can launch mmg from Tools > Launch.

Ah thank you stax76, I didn't see it there.  :)

Since I want to encode to XViD is it possible to run 2 instances of Staxrip or run two encodings in parallel to get more use out of a quad core machine? Or would they bother each other?

Generally it should be possible to run two StaxRip, AviSynth etc. instances, IIRC somebody reported problems with XviD though.

Stax, I got a real dumb question, I can get a great result out of Staxrip except for when I want to encode 50p source down to 25p, am I missing something to do that easily?

Xvid4PSP allows you to select this as part of your settings - is it not something that could be added?  I think apart from this one thing I'm ready to make the switch :)

I think this would half the frame rate:

hi stax, any chance of adding an encoding mode that uses crf to output to a file, but also writes the pass 1 stats file. ie add "--pass 1 --slow-firstpass"?

i always use crf, but i like to have a max file size. i know i can do it custom commandline, but it isn't practical unless they're automatically saved with either/or a unique filename or inside the source directory.

thanks and good work

I can add macro support for the custom command line, I didn't think somebody would need it there. Do you know what macros are?

some kind of variable? like "--stats %input%"

edit:

or i guess it would need to be "--stats %input%.log" or similar :)

but yeah, that's all i would need.

thanks

Exactly, you can find macros in MANY different locations in StaxRip, I'll try to add and upload it tomorrow.

one more question. is it possible to have x264 output to .mp4? i don't see it anywhere. since mp4box is still broken muxing raw avc, even with the patch trahald just posted on d9.

Cheers mate, I'll give it a go, I didn't try it because I didn't know what it would do with fields as its progressive but I'll suck it and see.  Also I'm gonna pull apart the scripts that Xvid4PSP creates so I can at least learn.

Yes it can, use builds with L-SMASH patched onto them, like Jeeb's.

Stax I replaced eac3to with eac3to build I found on doom9 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1004685#post1004685 and those eac3to errors I was getting are now all gone the same files are now working. Its version eac3to v3.24.

what does encoding to raw avc have to do with L-smash? as i said, x264's mp4 output muxes fine. raw avc does not. audio out of sync, same inputs.

i'm using r1703+203M_LQF
Quote
x264 --fgo 10 --fade-compensate .7 --profile baseline --level 3 --preset placebo --tune film --crf 17.5 --ref 5 --aq-mode 2 --merange 32 --me umh --output "%CD%.264" %1

edit
just to clarify:

i just wanna know how to change %encoder_ext%, i don't care to troubleshoot intermittent mp4box(or whatever the cause) issues.

Hi Stax using your latest beta the new framreate settings work perfectly for the wmv files that were causing an error previously. One quick question I can see the templates for Staxrip here C:\Documents and Settings\Family\Templates but where are the audio templates stored?

Hi Stax,

Is it possible to use NVidia resizer instead of native resize filters when using DGIndexNV? Could it be added as an option?

It's not possible to customize StaxRip to use something other then h264 unless you are using the command line based video encoder profile. Outputting MP4 you still use MP4Box then to mux audio and if your video source is MP4 instead of h264 MP4Box won't cause trouble, is this correct? His is the promised build supporting macros in the custom command line:

But StaxRip includes v3.24, maybe you can do a binary comparison.

StaxRip uses the term templates only for empty projects, any kind of profile is a global setting stored in the settings.bin file located in the settings directory which you can find at: main menu > Tools > Directories > Settings.

If you delete this file you will reset all settings, if you delete the complete directory StaxRip will prompt on start asking where the directory is, if you choose I directory containing settings they will be loaded, if you choose a empty directory new settings will be generated.

I can't do much here because the aspect ratio detection is based on what the source filter returns. You can of course double-click the source filter and enter the parameters or right-click the source filter and choose a DGSource profile with resize parameters, there are even such profiles included, if you cannot see them then you need to go to the profile editor and click the restore button. Using the DGSource resizer you must be careful and know how StaxRip is working and know what you are doing, biggest problems are aspect ratio related. You might have to follow a certain order like cropping first etc. You can use all DGSource features, you just need to know what you are doing. I've spent much time and thought for the best possible DGDecNV tools integration, after all I'm using it myself.

Hi Stax,

I have a bug, suddenly StaxRip told me there was a file not found "userlib.bpl"
befor that he told me another file missing "rtl70.bpl" i find it and correct the prob.
I feel that don't affect the functioning, encoding continues after clicking ok.
i search on google  but there is no answer about this file.

have you an idea ?

Thanks
